This is the first time I had ever been referred to the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, so be warned, it’s applied!) Opening Hours However, I was informed had I taken my usual Australian driver’s license, I would not have been permitted to hire – the same applies to US and Canadian license holders. (On this occasion, I thankfully took my UAE driver’s license, which was allowed. If you hold a license from outside the EU or are from a non- Vienna Convention on Road Traffic Signatory country, you might need an International Driving Permit. Note driving is on the right side of the road (steering wheel on the left). Check available car hire locations here: Alternatively, you can pick up at a city depot such as Avis at the Intercon. Things to know before visiting Transylvania, Romania Language in Romania Spring flowers blooming at the Romanian Athenaeum This post is part of our European Destinations series I was only there for one week but have included in the footnotes extra itinerary items and resources that you might find helpful in planning your own more extensive Romanian adventure. This is by far a comprehensive guide to Romania. Our road trip itinerary will take you on a circular trip from Bucharest, around many of Transylvania’s most famous landmarks in one week. You would literally need a couple of weeks to cover all that Transylvania has to offer comprehensively – and much longer to see all of Romania, from the painted monasteries in the north to the Black Sea beach resorts. The historic region of Transylvania occupies much of central Romania. Shrouded in mystery and vampire-driven legends, yet full of fairytale-like medieval villages, Gothic castles, fortified churches and the stunning snow-capped Carpathian Mountains. There is a poetic beauty to Transylvania that few places in the world can surpass. This is how some people know how to do tourism, we diverted the route from the concensus to home with a few hundred good km to visit this location and it ruins your day the host's lack of kindness good luck with the adjacent attraction (Calendar Story) that saved the day.See the best of beautiful Transylvania, Romania in one week That's why we decided not to visit this location anymore, hearing other visitors coming out of the premises disappointed. The hospitality at the clay castle leaves something to be desired from the entrance, we were (two families with 7 ticket buyers) greeted by a very demanding person regarding the entry conditions, referring to two pieces of gingerbread and a cotton candy that was opened, bought from the Calendar Story (location "gate by gate" much more attractive and where it is worth taking an entrance ticket, you really have something to show your kids) which had to be left at the entrance I decided to take them to the car (which was parked at the parking lot with 5 lei), during which the demanding person verbally assaulted his wife twice about food, when he finally forbade the entry of the entire group until I returned from the car, where the demanding person could convince himself that I had taken the products.
